FEBS Bursaries

INFORMATION:

  • FEBS Congress Bursaries will be available for students and postdoctoral fellows, as well as young independent investigators below the age of 40 years.
  • Approximately forty FEBS bursaries covering the registration fee and a contribution towards travel and accommodation costs will be available for students and postdoctoral fellows (within 5 years after obtaining their PhD) working in an academic institution of higher learning in any FEBS member country.
  • Further, up to twenty FEBS bursaries will be available for young principal investigators below the age of 40 years working in an academic institution of higher learning in Eastern European countries (namely: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia, Czech, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, FYROM, Serbia, Bulgaria).

Eligibility, Conditions & Restrictions:

Applicants must submit:

    1. Proof of abstract submission as a first author by providing the abstract submission confirmation letter and the registration ID obtained through the 33rd FEBS Congress & 11th IUBMB Conference registration
    2. Proof of membership of a FEBS Constituent Society
    3. A letter or e-mail from the department chair/institute director confirming the status as student/postdoctoral researcher or independent principal investigator / group leader, and
    4. A two-page CV listing not more than the five most important publications
    5. A statement of the cost of economy travel to the Congress and of accommodation in Athens.

Applications must be sent by e-mail to the Congress Secretariat at: febs-iubmb2008@acnc.gr, after registration through the 33rd FEBS Congress & 11th IUBMB Conference.

Please use "FEBS Congress Bursary Application" in the subject heading. The grants will be paid to participants in person upon check-in at the 33rd FEBS Congress & 11th IUBMB Conference congress venue in Athens.

STEP-by-STEP-Procedure to Apply For FEBS Congress Bursaries

    1. Carefully read the eligibility criteria
      NOTE: In-eligible applications will be rejected without further notice
    2. Go to the 33rd FEBS Congress & 11th IUBMB Conference Registration & Abstract Submission
    3. Submit an Abstract - you must pay the applicable registration fee (mandatory)
    4. You will receive your registration ID by e-mail
    5. E-mail your bursary application to febs-iubmb2008@acnc.gr and include ALL documentation (CV, Registration Code, Abstract Submission Confirmation letter, Status Confirmation Letter by your Institute Director/Department Chair, Proof of FEBS membership, cost statement)
    6. Recipients will be notified about their acceptance through e-mail by April 5th, 2008
    7. If your bursary application is accepted, continue at point 11
    8. If your bursary/fellowship application is rejected , and in case you are then unable to attend FEBS2007, you will obtain a FULL refund (bank transfer fees will be deducted).
    9. The STRICT deadline to claim a registration fee refund will be April 15, 2008
    10. Refund claims have to be e-mailed to the office febs-iubmb2008@acnc.gr, with the Subject Header «Refund Claim for Rejected Bursary »
    11. Bursary recipients will receive their grants upon check-in at the 33rd FEBS Congress & 11th IUBMB Conference congress venue on June 28th, 2008.
